Calderdale Primary Schools Cross-Country Finals

Monday, 5th March saw a number of CVFR’s juniors competing in the Calderdale Primary Schools Cross-Country Finals. Whilst results had yet to be officially published at time of going to press, there were some great runs for our younger red & white hoops, racing in their various school colours.

Year 6 girls’ race included notable personal performances from Evelyn Illstone (12th) and Hattie Pope (19th). For the year 6 boys, Charlie Pickens, Georg McFie & Tom Owen all placed in the top 6 (2nd, 5th & 6th respectively), with Leo Illstone also finishing 14th overall.

In the Year 5 races, Thomas Mckee ran a great race to finish 4th, with Finley Canning coming in 22nd boy & Fearne Hanson 14th girl. In the year 4 races, Sam Annison was another CVFR junior to finish in 14th place, with Edward Chrisanthou finishing 28th, and in the year 3, Clara Mckee adding to her other recent impressive results, with 2nd girl.

As the top 10 from boys & girls in each of years 4-6 go through to the West Yorkshire finals this Thursday, more storming runs can be expected from Calder Valley’s juniors. Thomas, Charlie, George and Tom will definitely go through to represent their local area and there is a high likelihood that additional members of CVFR junior boys and girls will also get picked to run in our local colours – Watch this space for more results next week
