Covid19 Junior sessions update March 2021

CVFR JUNIORS: RESUMPTION OF TUESDAY NIGHT TRAINING

First of all, the coaching team hope that you are all well, glad to be back at school (parents?!) and have been able to keep running and fitness levels up.

Following the recent government’s schedule for easing lockdown number 3, both the junior coaches committee and the club committee, as a whole, met last week.
Regarding the juniors, there was unanimous agreement that the priority needed to continue to be keeping everyone safe, and so we have a provisional plan to resume Tuesday evening training sessions only when full restrictions are lifted on 21st June. If we are able to do so earlier than this, then we will make a further announcement. Some people may feel that we could potentially resume the Tuesday evening training sooner than this, however the club and coaches agreements incorporated all the issues of keeping runners, helpers, coaches, MCC staff and the public safe, as well as allowing time for all adults (hopefully) to obtain the vaccine.

The very good news is that the resumption of races are beginning to be discussed. We hope – once we have a clearer idea of the calendar – to be able to put out an abridged junior champs list (possibly 6 – 8 races). If the easing of lockdown goes to the proposed schedule, then we hope that we can incorporate the champs between late June and late September. We may also have the scope to continue Tuesday night training sessions all through the usual summer break, to get everyone race-fit again!
Take care all and keep running!
