Skyline and trails

And they’re off

At the local Shepherds Skyline fell race from Lumbutts in Tod  there were some excellent results from our Calder Valley Juniors. The races are great as they go out onto the open fell with some of the older kids climbing what is known as “The Wall” which is a steep grassy banking. All kids are guaranteed to get muddy but that’s part of the fun of the fells.  Ishbel Symington had a fabulous run and took 1st place in the girls U9s with her team mates Holly Cotterill placing 8th and Eliza Anderson in 9th.  Harry Cliffe took 3rd place in a competitive field in the U11s with Rowan Cotterill having a good run placing 6th. Noah De Wit was 2nd boy in the U13s with the ever consistent Ted Parker taking 7th. Third place for Wynne Standish in the U15s with  Euan Logue was 1st in the U17s and James Aitken in 3rd.

Lakeland Trails Helvellyn 5k

Di with her daughter Emilia

Calder Valley’s, Emilia Wright, was 2nd Lady and 8th overall (96 runners) in the Lakeland Trails Helvellyn 5k race in a time of 26mins 12s. An amazing result for a 16 year old!!! It was an on and off road race in the Helvellyn foothills from Glenridding.  Weather conditions were typical for the Lake District in November – strong winds and heavy rain.
